A solitary strike from Billy Clark was enough for Bury Town to extend their unbeaten run in the Ryman League Premier Division following a 1-0 victory away to Hastings United.

There was also a victory for Needham Market in a 2-0 win on the road at Chatham Town in Ryman League Division One North, courtesy of goals from summer signings Nathan Clarke after 21 minutes, followed by a second half strike from Kieron Leabon.

Meanwhile in the FA Vase First Qualifying Round, Walsham-le-Willows eased through to the next round after a comfortable 3-0 victory over Harold Hill, but there was less success for Mildenhall Town who were dumped out of the competition following a 3-2 defeat away to Newmarket Town.

In the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division, Tom Cusack stuck for the third time in as many games as his side picked up all three points in a 2-0 victory over Woodbridge Town, while in the First Division, Team Bury slumped to a narrow 3-2 defeat at home to Cambridge University Press.

Elsewhere, it was a welcome return to action for Bury St Edmunds RFC, who opened the new London One North campaign in perfect fashion, romping to an emphatic 99-0 victory over Rochford Hundred at the Haberden on Saturday.

And finally, Bury CC suffered defeat on their travels, suffering a 58 run loss to Horsford in the East Anglian Premier League. After the hosts had batted first setting a total of 216-8, Bury struggled in reply and could only reach 158, falling short.
