Bury held while Needham streak continues

BURY Town had to rely on a late own goal as they snatched a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Wealdstone on Saturday.

The visitors looked on course to return to London with all three points after Chris O’Leary’s eighth minute opener, but with just two minutes remaining, Alan Massey inadvertently deflected Lee Reed’s corner past his own keeper to gift the hosts a share of the spoils.

The Ram Meadow outfit will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Wingate & Finchley tomorrow (7.45pm).

Meanwhile, in Ryman League Division One North, Needham Market’s impressive form continued as they secured their fourth consecutive win with a 1-0 victory away to Great Wakering Rovers.

Bradley Barber struck the only goal of the game after 51 minutes to keep the Marketmen in third place.

In the rugby, Bury St Edmunds eased to 66-10 victory over Hammersmith & Fulham at the Haberden on Saturday, their eighth consecutive league win.
