Team Bury manager Ross Wilding admits his side’s prospects of performing well in the Thurlow Nunn First Division this season hang on whether or not his star players progress to the Bury Town first team.

Ross Bailey, Liam Wales, Ryan Taylor and Phill Weavers have been among those who featured heavily for Bury Town in pre-season and they could be relied on for the town’s senior side in the Ryman Premier.

“It’s difficult because it’s a bit up in the air with players at the moment,” said Wilding, whose side lost their last friendly 4-0 at Haverhill Borough on Wednesday. “There are three or four who have been on the bench for Bury Town in pre-season and done well.”

That may force the team — who predominantly rely on West Suffolk College players — to make a rare excursion into the transfer market ahead of tomorrow’s home game with AFC Sudbury Reserves (3pm) and Wednesday’s trip to Needham Market Reserves (7.45pm).
