Great Wakering Rovers 0

Needham Market 1

BRADLEY Barber’s free-kick was enough for Needham Market to snatch a 1-0 victory at Great Wakering Rovers.

The Marketmen made one change from last week, with Lee McGlone coming in for Deakin Napier.

The match got under way on a dry and bumpy surface, with Newson heading wide within a minute of the start.

Great Wakering were looking the more threatening with goalkeeper Liam Jones called into action by Okai, Nash and Trenkel in the first 20 minutes.

Bradley Barber fired over after 21 minutes before Nash found the side netting at the other end just before the half-hour-mark with McGlone blocked by keeper Godwin-Green four minutes later.

Both sides had chances to stop the match going in goalless at the interval, but McGlone headed wide and Jones saved from Okai.

Needham took the lead six minutes after the break when Bradley Barber curled a free-kick up and over the wall from 20 yards after Evans had been fouled.

The hosts kept going and Jones saved from Carlile in the 89th minute before Rhys Barber cleared off the chest of Hawkins inside his six-yard box with the 90 minutes up, as Needham’s second successive clean sheet allowed them to take the three points back to Suffolk.
