Rick Andrews has set his sights on a first win of 2014 this weekend when AFC Sudbury Reserves visit Greens Meadow (3pm) in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division.

The Stowmarket Town manager has seen his side lose their last three league outings, all at home, but is expecting his side to be back in the winners enclosure sooner rather than later.

Andrews said: “With the recent strengthening of the squad we go into Saturday looking to get back to winning ways.”

The Old Gold and Blacks signed Ben Garnham, Sean Rea and Remell Davis to the club over the last few weeks, with all three making their debuts in the gold shirt during the 2-1 home defeat to Haverhill Borough on January 11.

“All the signings have settled in well and like the set-up that we’ve got here,” said the Stow chief.

Last Saturday’s scheduled match at Greens Meadow with Needham Market Reserves was postponed, but Town made the most of the spare time.

Andrews continued: “The team trained on Saturday and we worked on different formations in consideration with the heavy pitch at this time of year.

“Training has been going well with all of the players working hard, which will make us a tough team to beat.”

Stow will be without Yani Duka (back injury) and Carl Widdowson (suspension) as they look to avenge the 5-1 defeat to the Suds back in November.

Andrews said: “I think the result flattered them, we will be looking to pick-up points against them and the teams in and around us.

“We want to finish the season on a strong note and keep the players we have for next season while also adding a few more quality players to the squad.”

In the Premier Division, Mildenhall Town will aim to end a run of four matches without a win when they travel to Kirkley and Pakefield on Saturday (3pm).

Walsham-le-Willows visit CRC while Thetford Town could secure back-to-back wins for the first time this season with victory at Haverhill Rovers (both Saturday, 3pm).

In the First Division, Team Bury will go in search of a third win in a row when they entertain Haverhill Borough at Ram Meadow, while Needham Market Reserves play their first match of 2014 when they head to Swaffham Town (both Saturday, 3pm).
