Dean Greygoose saw enough in his first victory as Mildenhall Town’s interim manager on Saturday to know his current crop of players are good enough to revive the club’s fortunes.

Steve Holder bagged a brace and David Cooper the other in Hall’s 3-1 triumph at Ipswich Wanderers in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division on Saturday before the Recreation Way-based outfit lost 6-2 to Godmanchester Rovers in the Red Insure Thurlow Nunn League Cup on Wednesday.

“I’ve gone in there knowing the players are to be higher in the league,” said Greygoose, who side host Fakenham Town in the league tomorrow (3pm) before travelling to AFC Sudbury in the Suffolk premier Cup quarter-final on Tuesday (7.45pm). “Players just lose confidence and there is no rhyme of reason sometimes.

“They have given me what I expected, but I still want more from them.”

Thetford Town will look to bounce back to winning ways at home to high-flying Newmarket Town tomorrow (3pm) after their recent good form was ended by a 4-1 loss to fellow strugglers FC Clacton on Saturday.

Ryan Pearson, Sam Bryant and James Dean all went close, but only had Shane Leech’s goal to show for their efforts.

Walsham-le-Willows are one place and five points above the relegation zone, having played two more games than third-bottom Wivenhoe Town, after Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Newmarket.

They welcome Felixstowe and Walton United to Summer Road tomorrow (3pm).
