Opening round FA Vase ties are announced
A derby between Walsham-le-Willows and Diss Town was the standout tie as the FA this afternoon revealed the draw for the first two rounds of the 2018/19 Buildbase FA Vase.
Lower-league Diss, who famously won the competition in 1994, will make the short trip down the A143 for the First Qualifying Round encounter on Saturday, September 1.
Elsewhere, newly-promoted Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side Framlingham Town play host to Wisbech St Mary, while Hadleigh United travel to St Margaretsbury and Long Melford head to Baldock.
Meanwhile, in the Second Round Qualifying, there is potential for a derby clash between Newmarket Town and Ely City on Saturday, September 15.
For that to happen, Newmarket must first beat Downham Town at home, while Ely will have to negotiate a way past Norwich United at the Ellgia Stadium.
At the same stage, Team Bury will travel to higher-league Histon despite their long-term future remaining uncertain.
Thetford Town make the trip to the Norfolk coast to take on Great Yarmouth Town, with Haverhill Borough welcoming the winners of Whitton United versus Hatfield Town.
