Ian Farnham and Andrew Horsburgh defied dreadful weather conditions on Sunday and overcame the challenge of rivals Norrie Dickson and Brian Youngs in the final of the Blight Goblets, Thetford Golf Club’s winter foursomes knock-out event.

The match was played in pouring rain and strong winds as Farnham and Horsburgh ultimately prevailed 4&2.

Thetford’s Jess Dixon reached the semi-finals of the Norfolk County Championships at Barnham Broom at the weekend before losing to eventual champion Amy Taylor, while Shelly Pleasance reached the quarter-finals before she was knocked out.

Dixon and Pleasance were also in action in the Carrick Cup, the county’s inter-club scratch foursomes knock-out event, winning 4&3 away to Bawburgh to set up a match against Barnham Broom.

Chris Foulds won the Aspirants Shield for higher handicappers with a fine 41 points on Sunday.

His reward is a two-stroke cut in his handicap to 21.
