Duo deliver in super sprint

West Suffolk Wheelers’ Helen Samuel and Ray Reeves competed in the Eton Dorney Super Sprint ITU qualifiers on Saturday - 400m swim, 21.2km bike section, 5km run.

Reeves posted 14minutes 10seconds for the swim. His transition one time of 1.15 led to a bike time of 36.50, with transition two of 58sec and run of 21.36 giving a time of 1.14.49.

Samuel posted 14:19, T1 1:15, bike section 38:34, T2 1:07, run 25:07 for a combined 1:20:22. Both finished within their respective qualifying times.

Julian Colman and Malcolm McFarlane were in action at the Elveden-based Tear Jerker.

A demanding off-road triathlon, the 750m open water swim was followed by a 25km mountain bike section and a 5km mixed terrain run.

McFarlane’s combined time of 1.48.20 was enough for 34th, and Colman’s 2.05.42 saw him 70th.
