With the summer leagues finally finished, both Risbygate’s men’s and ladies teams took their first steps in the Cambridgeshire winter leagues.

The men’s team opened with an away match against Buckden.

Risbygate’s first pair of Ben Hayden and Will Dunster drew both their matches but the second pair of Martin Hayden and Dan Payford struggled for consistency and the overall result was a 6-2 win for Buckden.

Risbygate Ladies fared better in their opening match with a good home win over Royston.

The first pair of Gail Corcoran and Sue Glasswell played consistently well, winning all four of their sets.

The second pair of Jo Harpur and Jo Beresford were also going well, winning their first set and only losing the next on a close tie break.

However an injury to Harpur forced Risbygate to concede the last two sets leaving the Bury club with an overall 5-3 win.
