West Suffolk Wheeler and Triathlon Club member Dawn D’Amarco was among the winners at the Super Sprint Novice triathlon at the Great Yarmouth Marina Leisure Centre.

Athletes began with a 250m swim in the leisure centre pool followed by a 16km bike section along the sea front and ending with a 3km run along the promenade.

And D’Amarco set for the tone for the day as she finished first female home in the 40-44 age group, swimming in six minutes and 14 seconds, cycling in a time of 36 minutes and 13 seconds and running in 14 minutes and 46 seconds with transition periods giving her an overall time of 59 minutes and 36 seconds for 57th overall.

Meanwhile, Jill Willshaw finished in 68th place with an overall time of on hour, one minute and 20 seconds, while Julie Reeves finished as the second female in the over-55 category in a time of 1:07:09.

Elsewhere, New Eccles Hall School near Snetterton hosted round two of the Norfolk Cyclo Cross Summer League.

A determined group of Wheelers put in some hard riding, with Oliver Griggs well placed at fifth in the Under-12s, while father David and club mate Dick Lines battled it out in the men’s over-50 category, with honours going to Lines by one place.

In the combined junior/male 40-49 category, Mike Bowen had another good finish for fourth with Giles Prime and Stu Grand both well in the mix.

Junior Robin Lines also raced well.
