Culford second at cross country championship
Culford School finished second overall at the East Anglian Prep Schools Cross Country Championships, hosted by Woodbridge School.
Thirty prep school pupils represented Culford in four different age groups.
Individual and team races contributed to the age group overall scores.
The under-13 teams raced first with all four Culford boys finishing in the top six, making them winners of the team prize in this race.
Charlie Wakefield (13) finished second, William Tozer (12) was fourth, Edward Harvey (12) placed fifth with Oscar Endean (13) following him home in sixth .
The success continued from here, with several other Culford runners placing in the top ten of their races.
They were: Georgia Parker ninth under-13 girls, Holly Reynolds fifth under-12 girls, Matthew Beadmore sixth under-12 boys, Lyla Endean seventh under-11 girls, Harry Wakefield fifth under-11 boys, Jasmine Westcott sixth under-10 girls and Guy Salisbury third under-10 boys.
These fantastic results meant that Culford were able to secure the team award for the under-13 boys and third place for both the under-13 girls and under-12 boys teams.
Even more impressively, the girls team were placed second overall with the boys placing third.
n The cricket programme at the school are now the proud owners of a new Merlyn by BOLA spin bowling machine.
Andrew Northcote, Culford’s director of cricket, said: “We’re one of a minority of schools in the country that have access to this high-end machine. It is going to revolutionise our cricket training programme at Culford and I’m sure our teams will reap the rewards in the years to come.”
