Clean sweep of wins for County Upper basketball teams
County Upper School Under-14s Boysput together a blistering 102-15 win over Chelmsford Lions in their latest National League East of England Conference fixture.
After finishing the first quarter up 19 points with a 25-6 lead, County Upper racked up 31 points in the second quarter to lead 56-13 at the half-time break.
The second half saw County Upper rotate the bench, with a lot more of the younger players getting more game time and, while the offence stalled slightly, their defence continued to be a huge factor in the game.
County Upper kept their visitors scoreless for the whole of the third quarter, while scoring 19 points themselves, to move into a 75-13 lead going into the final quarter.
Michael Lacey leaded the scoring for the hosts and was supported by Lewis French with 16 points, while Fredide Barber, Eithan Doward, Corey Moye and Anthony House all scored 10 points each to complete a 102-15 scoreline.
The boys travel to Braintree Blue Devils tomorrow.
n County Upper School Under-14s Girls pulled out a deserved 57-41 victory against Northants Lightning in their second game in six weeks.
After trailing 9-8 at the end of the first quarter, County Upper fought back to lead 22-19 at half-time.
County Upper extended their lead to 12 points by the end of the third quarter as they went 40-28 up, with good offence and defence continuing in the fourth quarter to seal a 57-41 triumph.
Alex Popova lead the scoring with 22 points and was supported by Georgia Tansley (10 points) and Lizzy Sanders (eight points).
The girls take on Ipswich at home tomorrow.
n County Upper School Under-16s Boys looked stronger both defensively and offensively as they pulled away in the second half to beat Brentwood Leopards 72-51.
After building up a quick nine point lead by the end of the first quarter (24-15), County Upper moved further ahead in the second quarter to lead 42-31 at half-time.
County Upper stepped up defensively in the third quarter to limit Brentwood to only six points.
In the fourth quarter County Upper racked up 20 points, with Luca Beadle (18 points), Brandon Marshall (13 points) and Phil Ennis-Bugg (11 points) leading the scoring.
The boys take on Essex Rockets tomorrow.
