Bury St Edmunds-swimming sensation Chris Walker-Hebborn has all but secured his place at this summer’s World Championship in Kazan, Russia after a devastating display at the British Swimming Championships.

The 24-year-old double Commonwealth champion returned the London Aquatics Centre, the scene of a disappointing 2012 Olympic Games, and left victorious by winning the 100m backstroke category.

Having qualified fastest in a time of 53.21 seconds, Walker-Hebborn continued his form to overcome long-term rival Liam Tancock in the final, touching home in an impressive 52.88 seconds.

And as well as enjoying the title, he can now target the World Championships.
