Bury St Edmunds welcomed home three winners from the Suffolk Sports Awards on Friday night, keeping the Coach of the Year Award for a second year running.

Jill Day won the Abbeycroft Leisure Coach of the Year Award at the ceremony at Trinity Park, Ipswich, for leading the development of the coaching programmes for British Dressage, driving the development of the UK Coaching Certificate qualification.

She continues to do this, leading a team of coach educators, alongside having considerable success with her own athletes — several young riders have been selected to represent GB in international competitions.

She has recently completed a term as a selector for the international junior and young rider teams and is now the under-21 performance manager.

Phoebe Parker claimed the Archant Individual Performance/Achievement of the Year Award for her uneasy climb to be selected for the East Region netball squad and Hertfordshire Mavericks’ youth squad, a National Super League team.
