Brown sends Guard into final

Home Guard booked their place in the Mick McNeil Cup final with a 7-2 win over Wortham, writes Bill Tinkler.

Callum Brown bagged a hat-trick for the Glasswells St Edmundsbury League Division One leaders, with Clayton Dyer (two) and Jamie Barclay also on target.

Guard will play AFC Hoxne in the final after they comfortably beat Division Three outfit Ram Meadow Reserves 7-0 with goals from Martin Kent (three) Louie Lowery, Luke Halil, Mitch Gooderham and Gary Warnes.

Goals from Sam Henke and Ben Furman helped Cedars Park A beat RF Saints 2-1 to advance to the last four of the Bill Utting Cup.

In Division Two Bartons Reserves beat Bury Rovers 7-2 to close the gap on leaders Ram Meadow to just a point.

James Ward (two), Tom Gordon, Josh Codd, Callum Smith, Carl Hills and Kieran Lawrence all scored for Bartons.

n All clubs will hold a minute’s silence tomorrow after the passing of Jess Janes, honorary life vice-president of the Glasswells St Edmundsbury League. Janes was involved with the league for 25 years.
