Bronzini and King to ride in Women’s Tour

Professional cycling team Wiggle Honda are the latest to announce part of their line-up for the Aviva Women’s Tour, which sets off on Wednesday.

The team, which will be led by double World Champion Giorgia Bronzini, have confirmed four riders for the event, which will commence from Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds, before heading through the rolling countryside, through Stowmarket, Ipswich and on towards Aldeburgh.

Italian Bronzini, who finished fourth last year, will be joined by crowd favourite, Olympic Champion and three-time Women’s Team Pursuit World Champion, Britain’s Dani King, Elisa Longo Borghini, winner of the recent Ronde van Vlaanderen UCI World Cup round and Belgian National Road Race Champion and winner of this year’s opening UCI Women’s World Cup round the Ronde van Drenthe, Jolien D’Hoor.

Wiggle Honda are the latest team to announce their riders, following on from Bigla Pro Cycling — led by reigning Strava Queen of the Mountains Sharon Laws and Dutch Champion Iris Slappendel —and UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling, with Northamptonshire’s Hannah Barnes and Commonwealth Champion Linda Villumsen among their six rider line-up.

Meanwhile, cycling fans will be the chance to see the teams prior to the event commencing on Wednesday morning, as the riders will take part in the Aviva Women’s Tour team presentation, taking place outside the Apex in the town from 5pm on Tuesday.
