Brian cashes in to win croquet title

Playing with determination and skill, often saving eight free shots per game, Brian Cash, a low handicap player, was successful in winning the Bury Croquet Club’s singles tournament.

The Mike May was a creditable runner-up.

The Victory Cup, a contest for high handicap players, saw a strong challenge from competitors with some accurate hoop running and good positioning of the balls between shots.

Janet May’s tactics brought her the trophy with Jean Day as runner-up.

The annual Colbury Salver competition between Colchester and Bury culminated in a win for Colchester.

Claiming home advantage on their lawns, Colchester gained early hoops to win the trophy.

The Bury team performed better in the annual Tulips competition against Norwich.

Being two games behind from the first leg, Bury took an early lead in the doubles to level the scores, then maintained that advantage in the singles to win 14-12.
