ON THE MOVE?: Needham Market's all-time leading scorer Sam Newson looks set to leave the club

Needham Market look set to surprisingly let the club’s all-time leading goalscorer Sam Newson leave Bloomfields.

The prolific marksman has netted a record total of 139 goals in 240 appearances for the club, as well as scoring 32 goals last season to help guide the Marketmen to the Ryman League Division One North title and promotion to the Premier Division.

Newson, who only signed a new a new deal until the end of next season in January, now looks set to depart, having found playing time more limited this season, where he has netted seven goals in 17 appearances in all competitions, with six of those appearances coming from the substitutes bench.

The striker, who has found himself behind the likes of Michael Brothers and new arrival Ollie Mann in recent weeks, took to social media site Twitter to reveal his frustrations.

“Anybody need a striker? Willing to run for fun and score a couple of goals. Headed goals will be rare so don’t expect them! #footyproblems”
