BREAKING NEWS: Ex-Ipswich Town defender Ian Miller one of two Needham Market signings as Kevin Horlock departs
Needham Market have completed the huge signing of former Ipswich Town and Cambridge United defender Ian Miller.
Miller, 32, is one of two new arrivals for the Marketmen with striker Simon Thomas also penning a one-year deal from St Albans City.
As captain of Cambridge United, Miller, who began his career with Bury Town, led the team back to the Football League through the play-offs, as well as FA Trophy glory at Wembley.
During the play-off final he recieved a broken leg in the final minutes of the game.
Despite this, he still lifted the trophy- whilst in a wheelchair - as Cambridge won 2-1 against Gateshead.
Miller arrives on dual-registration terms with Vanarama National League outfit Braintree Town.
The former U’s captain returned to Cambridge United this week as the club’s new community football manager.
His new role at the Abbey Stadium will involve him overseeing all of their open access community football programmes.
Kevin Horlock has parted company with the Marketmen after seven years with the club.
Horlock, who was a key member of the Needham side that achieved promotion to the Ryman Football League in 2010, was the club’s academy manager.
The former Manchester City, West Ham United and Ipswich Town player took up the post of head coach when the academy opened its doors in 2011.
Replacing Horlock as head coach of the academy is Karl Duguid, who starts his new role from tomorrow.
