Former Ireland Under-18 international Yasin Browne has become new head coach Jon Clarke and new rugby director Kevin Maggs' first announced signing at Bury St Edmunds.

A statement by the club read: "The Pro-Am management team are pleased to announce that Irish qualified player Yasin Browne has signed for the 2017-18 season.

"Yasin, from County Limerick in Ireland plays at No.8, flanker or lock.

"Yasin’s previous Clubs are Olympique de Besanco in France, Cork Constitution RFC and Belfast RFC.

"Yasin has also has been with Canterbury’s International High Performance Unit in Christchurch, New Zealand."

The much-travelled forward is also understood to have played in Canada, and will officially sign for the Haberden National League Two South club on July 1.

Bury's perfrormance director, Terry Sands, said Browne would be 'the first of several overseas signings for the 2017-18 season''.

It comes off the back of Bury's announcement last week of former Ireland legend Maggs as part of their new management structure involved in recruitment as well as assisting head coach Clarke, a former Northampton Saints player.

The Wolfpack are due to return to pre-season training, initially involving gym work, this week in a bid to be raring to go for the start of the season in September.
