Boys clinch championship

King Edward VI School’s Year 9 boys remained unbeaten to win the Western Area Rugby Championships last Wednesday.

They bettered 10 schools from across West Suffolk, winning their semi-final 40-5 against Stowupland and the final 15-5 over Great Cornard’s Thomas Gainsborough School.

Team manager Jason Post said: “It was a brilliant team effort and these boys are showing real promise for the future.

“We could only take 15 of our 25-man squad, but the others will get their chance in the next event.”
