Simpson agrees Bury switch
Bury Town have further bolstered their squad for the 2018/19 season with the signing of Gareth Simpson.
The experienced midfielder had been on the look out for a new club ever since he took the decision earlier this month to leave fellow Bostik League North Division side Mildenhall Town.
It was Simpson's fourth stint with Bury's local rivals, whom he helped to win the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division title and back-to-back League Challenge Cups.
However, he will now begin a new era at Ram Meadow, having impressed Blues boss Ben Chenery with his fitness and performance levels in training.
"It was a bit out of the blue. We were made aware Gareth was leaving Mildenhall and went from there," said Chenery.
"He has the type of experience we need and will set a great example to the young lads.
"He was at the front during a lot of our fitness testing and when we got the footballs out he also showed his quality."
Simpson is the fourth new player to join Bury this summer after Jake Kerins (Mildenhall), Ryan Horne (AFC Sudbury) and Ryan Gibbs (Walsham-le-Willows).
