Bury St Edmunds’ junior academy ran in 13 tries to demolish Ely 81-12 on Sunday.

The Bury scrum was much stronger and set the platform for several of their tries, while their backs showed their dynamism, pace and inventiveness.

Full-back Andrew Devoy, making his first start of the season following injury, scored a try and six conversions.

Ed Ballam, George Holdgate, Jamie Griggs and James Copping scored two tries each, while Ollie Deeming (plus two conversions), Matt Saffrey, Huw Rees and Ollie Bos also crossed the whitewash.

n Bury’s under-15s also defeated Ely, with the Culford School-sponsored side wining 43-5 at The Haberden on Saturday

Max Tully, Callum Hempstead, Kierin Lovejoy and Morgan Gundry shared seven tries between them and the majority were converted by Freddie Allum.
