RE David Williams’ letter of complaint about his seats in the Gallery at the Theatre Royal for the Lesley Garrett concert (Bury Free Press, March 23) – I am confident that the box office explained the situation to him when he made his late booking.
Perhaps he doesn’t attend the theatre much otherwise he would have known where these seats are, right at the top – your photograph, by the way, didn’t show this area. If you purchase anything which is not perfect and this is explained to you before you hand over your money, you don’t later make a public complaint about its imperfections.
Instead of throwing brickbats at this gem in our midst – the only surviving working Regency theatre in the country – why not praise them for the entertainment they bring us. We in Bury St Edmunds are fortunate to have such a vibrant, live theatre on our doorstep and should support it. David Williams might think about doing this by joining the Friends of the Theatre, when he would receive priority booking and could choose seats to his satisfaction.
