YOUNGSTERS have taken their education to the great outdoors after their school received £10,000 worth of new equipment.
Early Years pupils at Cockfield Primary School are enjoying their revamped outdoor learning environment with an extended canopy, a new soft play surface, astro turf and large storytelling chair.
The new features and improvements were carried out over the summer and allows the four to five-year-olds to enjoy activities such as painting and reading.
Headteacher Emma Nicholson said: “Fifty per cent of their learning should be outdoors so we’ve enhanced the opportunity for them to be able to do that.
“They’re loving it because it’s all bright and colourful and the extension of the canopy means they can go out in all weathers.
“It’s also making the area more appealing because it did look a little bit tired and we’re utilising the space a bit better.”
