Woolpit shooting: Men released under investigation after 27 year old shot in chest




Two men have been released under investigation after a man was shot in the chest in Woolpit at the weekend.

Police attended the scene near Woolpit Business Park in Windmill Avenue at around 11.55pm on Saturday following reports that a 27-year-old man had suffered a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 56-year-old man from Woolpit and a 42 year old from Stowmarket were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

After having been questioned at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre, both men, who are believed to have been hunting rabbits at the time of the shooting, were released.
