A woman was taken to hospital this morning following a collision on the A11 near Mildenhall.

Police and an ambulance crew and a rapid response vehicle from the East of England Ambulance Service were called just before 11am to reports of a single vehicle collision around 500m from the Fiveways roundabout.

A Fiat Punto, believed to have passengers inside, was travelling on the southbound carriageway when it hit the central reservation.

Both carriageways were temporarily blocked, but the car was removed from the road by 11.30am.

Medics treated a woman in her 60s who had lower back pain. She was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for further treatment, but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or serious.
