Woman jailed after stealing £241,000 from Bury St Edmunds clothing company

A woman who stole around £241,000 from the Bury clothing company she worked for has been jailed for four years.

Liza Starling, 45, of Pilham, Gainsborough, was convicted at Hull Crown Court of theft from her employer, Stuncroft Ltd, when she was finance manager at its Moreton Hall offices.

The thefts between January 2005 and October 2012 amounted to some £241,000.

Speaking after the case, Douglas Bailey, managing director of the company based in Goole, Yorkshire, said: “This started nine years ago and was a breach of trust. It was shocking. The 36 people working for us were also shocked. Some would have known Liza for a long time.“
