Woman from Elmswell banned from driving for 13 months after spinning her car

A woman has been banned from driving for 13 months after drink driving and crashing into another vehicle.

Kim Carmella McGinn , 57, of White House Barns, Elmswell, appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Friday March 27.

Prosecuting, Lesla Small said McGinn had been drinking before the collision on Mount Road in Bury St Edmunds between her Suzuki Swift an another car..

She said: “Police were called after there was a road traffic collision where contact was made between two vehicles. “There was a front impact between the vehicle Miss McGinn was driving which caused her to spin and face the opposite direction.”

When a sample of blood was taken at hospital it showed McGinn had 89 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.

McGinn was banned from driving for 13 months, reduced by 13 weeks on completion of a drink drive rehabilitation course. She was also fined £300 and made to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.
