Witness appeal after woman sustains serious injuries in collision near Mildenhall

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman sustained serious injuries in a road traffic collision in Mildenhall.

The incident took place at 3.25pm yesterday (Monday) on the A1101 Mildenhall Drove at Kenny Hill.

A black Vauxhall Omega limousine travelling northbound was involved in a collision with a blue Ford Ka travelling in the opposite direction.

Both vehicles left the road, with the Omega rolling onto its roof and the Ka coming to rest at the bottom of a roadside dyke.

The driver of the Ka, a woman in her twenties, had to be freed from the car by fire service personnel. She was taken to hospital having sustained a fractured femur and arm. The driver of the Omega, a man also aged in his twenties, sustained a broken ankle.

The road remained closed until 9.30pm whilst a collision investigation took place and the vehicles were recovered.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or either vehicle prior to it. Calls should be made to Pc Richard Starkey at the Bury St Edmunds Roads Policing and Firearms Operations Unit on 101, quoting reference CAD 267 of November 2.
