Witness appeal after two men try to hijack taxi in Blackthorn Walk, Bury St Edmunds

Two men attempted to hijack a taxi in Bury St Edmunds this morning.

The incident occurred at around 5.40am in Blackthorn Walk when the taxi driver was collecting passengers.

As he was loading luggage into the taxi, a man approached him and engaged him in conversation.

Another man then jumped into the driver's seat and tried to drive off but after the vehicle stalled, both men ran down an alley towards the community centre.

Police understand that no one was injured as a result of the incident.

Witnesses are asked to call Suffolk Police on 101 quoting crime reference 37/24196/19.
