Windows supplier in Bury St Edmunds creates jobs with construction of own factory
A growing Bury St Edmunds company has created its own manufacturing centre in a move that has lead to new jobs.
The expansion by windows and doors supplier Livingwood Windows, of Hillside Business Park, Kempson Way, Hillside Road, comes as the company is poised to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
The move has seen the size of the firm’s premises grow from 1,000 square feet to more than 4,000 square feet and has allowed the existing five employees to grow by a further four people.
The firm has not released details of the size of the investment but funding was through a grant organised by Suffolk County Council through the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership plus Handelsbanken in Bury St Edmunds.
Toby Golding, director, said: “We have created not only a factory but also space for our administration which we have relocated from Tostock to Bury St Edmunds.
He added: “It’s a big investment but one the company was ready for so we are all feeling very positive and excited.”

The new state-of-the-art factory is equipped with the latest Elumatec CNC machinery to create aluminium sliding doors and windows from the industry-respected brand Reynaers at Home.
A large showroom area is also being created as part of the firm’s expansion.
Mr Golding said: “Manufacturing the products means we can keep our prices competitive.
“We now have enough space to deliver exactly what our customers want.
“That can be from a one-off bespoke request to large multi-item orders.
“Our customers can enhance their property with our beautiful doors or create stunning clear views with windows over three metres high.”
The company was co-founded in 2006 by two friends who met at school 28 years ago. Toby Golding (43) from Fornham All Saints, and Antony Jackson (43) from Clare.
Livingwood Windows sells its products to national customers as well as locally.
It has a sister brand, Aluminium Sliding Doors and Windows, which was created for the expansion. Both brands offer aluminium and wooden doors (entrance, bi-fold, French and sliding) and windows (flush casement, tilt and turn, sliding sash and sliding).
During the last nine years, Livingwood Windows has supplied windows and doors for projects based all over the UK from St Just near Landsend in Cornwall to the Isle of Arran in Scotland as well as supplying single doors and windows to properties in numerous locations including London.
