Young artists could win their own dragon as part of the West Stow Dragon Festival this month.

They are being invited to design a dragon based on the festival’s logo, which was drawn by Marvel Comics UK artist Jerry Paris, who will be judging the #MyDragon entries.

Eighteen Lego Elves sets, worth more than £350, are on offer, nine, ranging from £8.99 to £34.99, will be prizes for the #MyDragon competition and eight more sets are to be won at the festival on June 25 and 26 including two top sets of The Secret Marketplace, at £49.99, reserved for a Lego brick dragon building competition.

The Dragon Festival was inspired by a piece of Anglo-Saxon art displayed in the West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village Museum, called the Icklingham Die Plate, which features interwoven dragons.

Dragon Festival 2016 will include Beowulf and the Dragon costume re-enactments, dragon tales by the Theatre Royal Young Associates, and, sure to be the top draw this year, an appearance of internationally-loved, Epico the Dragon – a dragon helping people ‘connect, play, share and celebrate life’.
