William’s charitable walk from Surrey to Bury St Edmunds in brother’s memory

A sprightly 72-year-old will be dusting off his walking boots and putting himself to the test to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

William Poole witnessed the ‘devastating’ effects of dementia on his brother, Ken, and was ‘heartbroken’ when he passed away in 2013.

Keen to help fund research into the disease, he has devised a 200-mile route which he plans to complete alone over the course of a week.

Setting off from Walton on Thames, in Surrey, on May 29, William plans to walk to Bury St Edmunds, the town where both of his daughters live, and back again.
