Harry Potter-famed De Vere House in Lavenham is taken off the market

Harry Potter fans hoping to buy a house seen on film might now have to look beyond Suffolk.

It's all because De Vere House in Lavenham, which doubles as Harry's parents' house in the fictional Godric's Hollow, is no longer for sale.

Jane and Anthony Ranzetta, owners of the Grade-I listed 15th century property, had put it on the market for £995,000, reduced to £950,000.

But this week, Jane told the Bury Free Press that they had decided to put their plans to downsize on hold as they focus on looking after the property - which they also run as an AirBNB.

"The publicity around the house has been extraordinary and we have taken even more bookings," she said.

"It has always been quite busy, but now we are fully booked until Christmas.

"Guests from all over the world have been making inquiries, and this country as well.

"We felt that we did not need to sell."

Jane and Anthony said they were aware filming for the Deathly Hallows Part One, the seventh instalment in the Harry Potter franchise, was taking place around Lavenham. But they had no idea the outside of their house would briefly feature, as no cameras were taken inside. A different location was used to shoot the inside of the home - which is seen in a flashback scene.

Estate agent Carter Jonas has now pulled the property from its website, having received several offers.

Jane added: "The house is very popular, it has been in Harry Potter and there may be other opportunities in the future."
