It's unofficial! Primark is the retailer you want most for Bury St Edmunds
Primark is the retailer Bury St Edmunds shoppers want to see the most, according to a Facebook poll.
The fast fashion retailer has shops in Ipswich, Cambridge and Norwich - but social media users are hoping another will open closer to home.
Facebook group 'We Love Bury St Edmunds!' presented 53 choices to its membership of nearly 20,000 in a poll.
And the result was never in doubt, with Primark taking 878 votes, more than double the second place shop Ikea - which recorded 411.
John Lewis came third with 283 and Lush fourth with 208.
The vote begs the question of how likely a Primark would be for Bury.
But the chain, which has 190 UK stores and more than 150 more worldwide, is giving little away about its future plans.
A Primark spokesperson told us: “Primark does not comment on speculation or plans regarding new store openings.”
Results were noted by the Bury Free Press at 4pm on Thursday (January 17) after 20 hours of voting. The poll is ongoing at the time of writing.
