West Suffolk leisure trusts set to merge if councils grant approval

Two West Suffolk leisure trusts are set to merge in April following approval from local councils.

Abbeycroft Leisure and Anglia Community Leisure manage Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill Leisure Centres in partnership with St Edmundsbury Borough Council, and Newmarket and Brandon Leisure Centres, The Dome Leisure Centre and Mildenhall swimming pool in partnership with Forest Heath District Council.

Both the charitable trusts’ boards of trustees have approved the merger subject to consent from St Edmundsbury and Forest Heath, which own the buildings.

If approved the new trust will commence from April 1 under the name Abbeycroft Leisure and will become Suffolk’s largest leisure trust.
