A company director from Thurston has appeared in court to deny 21 charges of fraud said to involve building contracts worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Carl Shrubshall, of Hollow Lane, Thurston, was arrested and charged following an investigation by Suffolk County Council’s Trading Standards department. It is alleged the offences were committed when Shrubshall was a director of Beckwill Builders Ltd, in Bury St Edmunds.

Today Shrubshall, 45, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court where he pleaded not guilty to all the allegations against him.

The court heard that the offences were alleged to have been committed between 2010 and 2013 at addresses in Cambridgeshire and Buckinghamshire.

Judge David Goodin told Shrubshall that his trial, which is expected will last for four weeks, is due to take place early next year.

He will continue to be granted bail until his next court appearance.
