A woman who has lost three stone since deciding to get fit last year is hosting a fund-raiser in Bury St Edmunds to help boost support for her biggest challenge yet.
Stowmarket hairdresser Sophie Clark has spent the last six months training for the London to Brighton Bike Ride on September 27.
“I’m looking forward to it,” she said.
“It’s been my own personal battle because I was a lot bigger at the start of last year and have lost a lot of weight since.”
The 22-year-old plans to complete the 100km journey in aid of the Breast Cancer Now charity and has already raised more than £550 of her £1,000 fund-raising target.
On Monday she cycled the equivalent journey on an exercise bike at NRG Fitness in Stowmarket, which took her three hours and 47 minutes to complete and raised some extra funds for her cause.
On Sunday the former Bury barmaid is hoping to boost her total still further with a fund-raiser at the town’s Pot Black.
The event will run from 4-7pm and will include live music, face painting, refreshments and a raffle.
