Wear your poppy with pride and let your silence speak your respect this Rememberance Sunday

Have your say

Poppies will be worn with pride, wreaths laid by veterans who cannot fathom why they and not others survived; silence will speak our respect.

Rememberance Sunday services will be held at the weekend.

In Bury there will be a wreath laying service on Saturday in the Abbey Gardens at 2.30pm.

Then on Sunday a civic procession will lead from the Abbey Gate to the Angel Hill war memorial at 10.40am. There will be an Apache helicopter fly past at 11.03am followed by a salute and wreath laying and a service at St Mary’s at 11.30am.

Soldiers from the 16 Air Assault Brigade at Wattisham airfield will be joining in with services in the area.

The brigade’s senior chaplain Rev Michael Parker said: “The opportunity to come together as a nation, allowing the communal silence to speak of our respect for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, is as meaningful today as it has ever been.”

Stowmarket: Salute at the Market Place at 8.45am, service at the memorial gates at 10.45am.
