West Suffolk Operational Hub at Hollow Road Farm on schedule to be operational by the end of the year

Construction work on a facility to meet changing needs for waste management is ‘progressing well’ and is on track to be fully operational before the end of this year, it was confirmed this week.

The West Suffolk Operational Hub (WSOH), at Hollow Road Farm, Fornham St Martin, will see waste facilities moved to the single site to help future-proof services against predicted growth.

The project is a partnership between Suffolk Council Council and West Suffolk Council.

The new waste hub will include a waste transfer station, split-level household waste recycling centre, vehicle depot and re-use shop facility.

Cllrs Peter Stevens and Paul West, cabinet members for operations for partners West Suffolk Council and Suffolk County Council, respectively, said: “The road-widening and associated highways works are almost complete and we are working on planning the transfer of our existing operations to the site.

“There has been close collaboration between partners and contractors, and the local community has been regularly updated through monthly local newsletters, coffee mornings and community liaison meetings.”

The complex is being built by Morgan Sindall Construction.
