Residents in Bury St Edmunds are being warned to keep their doors and windows closed at night after a spate of ‘walk-in’ burglaries.

The alert from Suffolk Police follows an incident at a house, in St Olaves Road, from 1am to 6.10am on July 3, when an Xbox 360 and a purse were stolen from the living room.

It comes on top of two other burglaries on July 2 in Newmarket Road and Wigston Road.

Detective Inspector Nick Power, of Bury CID, said: “With the onset of warmer weather it is very easy for people to forget to close their windows at night and this unfortunately leaves an invitation to opportunist burglars.”
