PEOPLE are being encouraged to don their walking boots and enjoy several organised walks in May and June as part of the Suffolk Walking Festival.
The festival features 30 walks between May 19 and June 10 including a 70 mile Suffolk Challenge Walk from Flatford to Mildenhall between May 20 and May 24.
The medeival churches of Woolpit, Drinkstone and Rattlesden will feature in the Medeival Marvels outing on June 8 which covers 6.5 miles and features a short talk at each church.
There is also a 4.5 mile walk on the evening of June 9 at Brandon Country Park in the hope of catching the song of the elusive nightjar. For younger interests there are walks and activities in The Story of St Edmund on June 7 which starts at 11am and features a 45 minute walk around the abbey’s grounds.
All the walks need to be booked in advance through the Tourist Information Centre in Bury St Edmunds on 01284 764667 who can advise on prices, if they apply, and places to stay. More information will be available on www.discoversuffolk.org.uk
