DUST off your walking boots, check your bike brakes, put the date in your diary.
There is just a week to go until two of the biggest fund-raising events on the Bury St Edmunds calendar take place.
Sunday, June 10, will see both the St Edmund’s Wheel Bike Ride setting off from the Abbey Gardens and the Bury Challenge Walks from Bury Rugby Club.
There is a choice of 15, 25, 50 and 100 mile routes for the bike ride, which you can enter using the form, right.
St Edmund’s Wheel is also holding a duck race in the Abbey Gardens and organisers will be out on Bury market tomorrow selling the ducks. The race takes place next Sunday at 1pm.
Money raised will go to St Nicholas Hospice, the Bury Free Press Helping Hands appeal and other local causes.
The challenge walks will include 26-mile and 15-mile routes – which are also open to runners – as well as a six mile guided walk in the town centre.
There are challenge cups for the individual and team that raises the most. The event is in aid of armed forces charities. Registration starts at 7.30am
