First Responders have launched a service in and around Wickhambrook.

The seven strong team of volunteers will make a life or death difference and be called out as the first line of emergency care under the auspices of the ambulance service.

The group has recruited volunteers from Wickhambrook, Ousden and Chedburgh and aim to have 12 responders trained by early April.

County councillor Mary Evans donated £1,150 from her locality budget to fund one of two sets of kit and defibrillators. She said: “I hope none of us ever needs to call on them but aren’t we lucky to have such committed and caring friends and neighbours.”
