A Woolpit couple have celebrated 60 years of marriage with a surprise tea party organised by their two children.

Jo and David Bennett first met at a youth club in Thurston and were wed at the village church in 1955.

They ran guest houses and homes for the elderly all over the country before retiring to Norton where they lived for 17 years and Woolpit which has been their home for three years.

“We’ve been in love all our married life - it’s gone very quickly and doesn’t seem like 60 years at all,” said Jo, 81, still happily married.

A vintage tea party at Woolpit Institute was their July 4 anniversary surprise.
