A VILLAGE hall at the centre of community life has been given a £53,000 makeover to improve facilities and provide more space.

Cllr Caroline Byles officially opened the newly refurbished village hall on Tuesday.

The hall is used every day for dance classes, parish council meetings, mother and baby groups and events. It is often hired out by businesses for private events or training, and is regularly used as a wedding reception venue and for birthday parties.

John Cummings, Stowmarket Village Hall Management Committee secretary, said: “It’s an important hub for the village, it plays a very important role.”.

The group raised more than £50,000 to refurbish and modernise the hall and create a meeting room and storage.
