The annual fund-raising event challenges local businesses to raise as much money as they can over the space of three months using a £50 start-up donation.

As well as the stocks, where you can pay £1 for three sponges or £5 for a bucket of water, staff are holding a tombola and are giving away a special cake designed to look like a £50 note.

Asda’s Community life champion Michelle Frost said: “It’s lucky the weather is so nice today. It wouldn’t have been much fun if it was pouring down.”

The event is going on at the store on Western Way in Bury until 4pm today.
