VICTORIA Pendleton shimmied on to Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday to be partnered with Brendan Cole.
The Olympic gold medallist appeared in a gold sequined dress to be partnered with the Strictly veteran who declared himself, ‘the luckiest man in Great Britain’.
With the help of expert Sian Couture, the Bury Free Press will be following Victoria, a former member of Mildenhall Cycling Club, as she progresses in the competition.
Sian said: “The first episode of the tenth series of Strictly Come Dancing was fabulous, full of energy, razzle dazzle and excitement.
“There are several colourful and entertaining personalities amongst the celebrities guaranteeing us a lot of fun.
“While it would appear that some of the contestants have an advantage, the musicality of Denise, Kimberley and Nicky, the fitness and agility of Louis and Victoria, we should never ‘judge a book by its cover’ and hopefully there will be some surprises.
“Victoria certainly has tremendous support from the public and, despite being clearly nervous, she said she will be, ‘taking it very seriously, although remembering the steps will be a challenge’.
“Her obvious strengths at the moment are the ability to work very hard – she has amazing energy, commitment and determination.
“Equally, we have seen a sensitive and vulnerable side to her and hopefully she will use this to her advantage through the expression in her dancing.
“It will be interesting to see how her partnership with Brendan develops. Aesthetically they are well balanced and hopefully we will see some passion in the performances.”
Strictly judge Len Goodman said: “Brendan has the perfect one. They will be like a couple on a tandem – riding to the final.”
Victoria and Brendan began rehearsals on Monday and will perform their first dance in the live show on October 5.
